EMEA Payroll Accountant

Role Description

Summary of Role:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring that payroll policies, processes and procedures are implemented and followed across the Cpl Group. Manages the resources and centralised outsourced payroll activities for 15 payrolls and a temporary staffing population of up-to 10,000 employees.   Delivers a high quality commercially focused payroll function to support the Cpl Group in achieving its organisational objectives. 

 

Cpl operates payrolls in Ireland and UK, with smaller payrolls in Poland, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany and the US.

Specific areas of responsibility:

Strategic Direction

  • Develops tactics, strategies, procedures and workflows for department’s activities in order to achieve the established objectives and offer quality services to both internal and external customers. Ensures Team Leaders implement and apply all of the aforementioned together with the team members
  • Participates in internal and cross functional projects; collaborates well with cross-functional teams in developing solutions that are in the best interest of Cpl Resources

 

Project Management

  • Partner with key stakeholders throughout the business to develop and improve complex financial processes
  • Develop and drive appropriate project plans and timetables
  • Using data and completing detailed analytics to make sound business decisions 
  • Provide performance reporting and analysis to senior management 

People Management

  • Assesses resource requirements to deliver on responsibilities and ensures staffing is at an appropriate level
  • Monitors on a daily basis the team’s performance, ensures direct reports meet their individual tasks, deadlines and perform to established standards. When needed, takes timely actions to coach, develop, and train direct reports in order to be able to fulfil their daily responsibilities to reach the job requirements and needed competencies

Relationship Management

  • Builds and maintains effective supporting relationships with internal business partners to meet specific business needs
  • Works in partnership with clients to understand their business needs

Operational Effectiveness

  • Leads and provides daily support to the team in the processing of the weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll & auto bill for high volumes of employees
  • Provides solutions to pay related queries from clients, business partners and employees
  • Ensures that payroll delivery complies with all national, legal and fiscal requirements and that all regulatory and statutory requirements are met
  • Prepares payroll reporting and metrics to assist in decision making across the business
  • Defines system training programmes for team members and business partners as required

Education/Professional Qualifications:

  • Degree or Professional Qualification
  • IPASS (not essential but successful candidate will be required to obtain post hire)

Experience / Skills required: 

  • 5+ years process management experience in a fast paced environment (payroll not essential)
  • Proven service delivery background
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Technical requirements: IPass, working knowledge of Quantum is advantageous
  • Experience of UK and International payroll is preferred
